It was also interesting seeing that, for as bad of a person as Kiritsugu might have been, he actually was a pretty good father to Shirou.

Obviously, we know from the VN that she's always deliberately avoided getting close to him because of her sister, but its fun seeing her conflict emerge in such erratic ways.Įnjoyed the little flashback to Fate/Zero it went a long way to explaining Rin's motivations without spelling them out. I still love the facial expressions from Rin its great seeing her trying to keep Shirou at arm's length and failing so badly at it. Its also nice to see Shirou's resourcefulness in his limited applications of magic work well. Rider pretty much only gets one, maybe two scenes to be awesome in UBW, and I think they did a good job. I liked the fight scenes well-choreographed, and added some excitement to the episode. Having him explicitly saying that nobody can truly be a hero forever kinda speaks for itself. It really seems like they're trying hard to make sure you get the point of the story with the Kiritsugu flashback. Your description is more what would be called "hikkikomori" than "otaku". I don't think the presence of a wife had much to do with it though I was meaning otaku in the more traditional meaning of "obsessive about a specific field of interest". Now that I think about it, the question probably came up in relation to Melty Blood, so at least there would be some context for them fist fighting or reason for him to consider it.Īs to whether or not Nasu is an otaku.who really knows? He doesn't have much of a public face outside of Type/Moon he responds to pretty much every personal question with a joke.

It struck me as unusual because it seemed like a fairly off-the-wall question that, even as the author, I wouldn't expect him to have thought about. It reminded me of how Grant Morrison, when given a question about extremely obscure Batman arcana, would immediately respond and follow it up with two or three ways in which he considered updating it. Not only that, the fact that he'd seemingly have already thought of it and had an answer. Its not even asking a question about the power levels of the characters its the extreme specificity of "what if the characters fought hand-to-hand, with no magic or magical enhancements who would be the top three of these five characters?" That's an extraordinarily specific question, and one that isn't really related to those characters' roles in their respective stories.
